| Hi.
As far as i know, all books are good. As long as it was written by foreign people whose English is their main language. Not that i don't trust local authors though.
So, i can't recommend any specific books because i never used books to study grammar beside my English books at school.
Maybe other members can help kwang? |

The English Class thread will actually help you improve your grammar. But is is still under construction. Just stay tune.. :) |

| well paulo coelho's books is supreme good, and he's a brazillian. english wasn't his first language. for me, i'm having much more fun learning english from books(novel etc) and movies than the english book itself . go watch some QT's movie and you'll get a goddamn english lesson. |

| I think books are good for your reading and writing skill. but for perfect learning, try to watch subtitled movies :) they also help you for listening. because speaking skill depends on listening. For further improvement, read english literature. some of my friends who are studying english major always do that. reading some novels such as greek anthology, english novels like shakespeare to learn where did the english words come from :) |

yeah, i noticed that some of the famous authors have good english capability. but, in terms of grammar, i think they can't beat the natives. well, at least in most cases an in majority. |

| hi :) nice to meet everyone
from my personal point of view, every language is almost the same, each of them need to be used everyday. every book is good for practicing your grammar, even from a science fiction novel. they will train your brain to produce sentences that you're going to use. grammar is important, so do vocabulary (imagine yourself can't say whatever in your mind, only because you don't know the exact word)
I am overly agree with tangerine :) with no means to underestimate our local teachers, but it's much better to learn straight from the source
I would recommend dan brown and JK rowling..they're amazing in terms of describing location, situation, and a person's look |

| nice to see that there are book nerds like me too.. :D
As far as i read, Narnia is nice as well, but i'm still at the 4th, so I can't give too much comment on that subject.
The thing i liked in Rowling's work is that she can use a phrase with same first letter (eq :"babbling like a band of baboons"; "mad-eye moody"; "bloody baron") very nicely and sounds really easy to memorize :)
not to mention whenever i watch the movie, i always knew that *hey! that's not what the book said*. the storytelling in her work is good enough to make people imagine what's happening in the fantasy world. truly masterpiece. too bad the ending is not good enough. a forced ending if i might say
for those fiction novel lovers, i also recommend percy jackson& the olympians..if you watched the movie, forget it.,there's a bit of differences with the book~ |
